| Bio: | Character's name: Suzuhara Misaki Character's age: Not given, but she's a second-year middle school student, so probably 13 or 14. Character's gender: Female Series the character is from: Angelic Layer Point in canon they're being taken from: Post-Angelic Layer, pre-Chobits. Brief background: Misaki spent her elementary school years with her grandparents in Wakayama, as he mother left when she was in Kindergarten. She saves up money that her mother has been sending her over the years to move and attend middle school in Tokyo. Just after getting off the train at Tokyo Station, she sees an Angelic Layer battle on the giant television screen. Although she doesn't really know what's going on in the battle yet, she is struck by the victory of the smaller white angel over the larger black angel, as Misaki is small herself. She soon meets the eccentric Icchan, who, noticing Misaki's wish to play Angelic Layer, helps her get her very own angel and the supplies that she needs to begin playing. She takes her new angel home, where she creates it as a small (just like herself) speed-type and names it Hikaru. While Misaki is practicing dilligently at Angelic Layer with Icchan, she is still, of course, going to school, where she meets her two new best friends, Kotaro Kobayashi and Tamayo Kizaki. She also gets to know Kotaro's sister, Hatoko, who is a reknowned Angelic Layer dues. Misaki grows better and better at Angelic Layer, using her sharp eyes and intuitive fighting style to win her way to the top of the regional tournament. Throughout the entire tournament, Misaki never wavers in her strong belief in her angel, Hikaru. Having won the regional tournament, Misaki moves on to the national tournament, where, overcoming several extremely difficult opponents, including the previously undefeated Ojiro Mihara and his angel, Wizard, she eventually wins the national tournament as well. However, the surprises aren't over yet for Misaki. After winning the tournament, Misaki is entered into a ceremonial match against an unknown opponent who commands the small, white Angel that first inspired Misaki to become a deus. Fighting against the angel, named Athena, Misaki gives it her all, but ultimately loses. The mysterious deus whom she fought against leaves the arena abruptly and Misaki follows her. As she is running towards the woman, she shouts out for her mom to wait. It turns out that the mysterious woman is actually Misaki's mother, a fact that she discovered when playing against her. Their personalities are extremely similar. Misaki's aunt appears and tells her that her mother left because, as she demonstrates, she gets so shy around people that she loves that she panics and runs off. However, they all decide to try living together in Tokyo. At the end of the manga, Misaki, her mother and her aunt are all getting used to living as one family. She has started her second year of middle school in the same class as Tamoyo and Kotaro again, and is dating Kotaro. Personality: Misaki is a very kind-hearted young girl, who, much like her mother, can get a little over-excited at times. She is very shy and appears to be a little self-conscious, especially about her height, but she works hard at Angelic Layer (her angel, Hikaru, is small just like her,) to prove that small people are just as good. She is very earnest and deeply attached to her two best friends, Tamoyo and Kotaro. Tamoyo gives her a nickname, "Misaki-chi" when she first meets her, and Misaki blushes and, well, kind of flails with delight. Speaking of blushing, Misaki blushes a lot, like when she's around Kotaro, (who she ends up dating) when she's happy, when she's startled by one of Icchan's sudden appearances, when she's nervous, etc. She gets this from her mother, who also blushes and gets very nervous when she's around people she cares for. The thing that strikes most of her opponents about Misaki's personality is how deeply she believes in and cares for her angel, Hikaru. She seems to have a very deep connection with Hikaru when they are battling, and her opponents are often startled by her actions, like when, after every battle, she runs over, all worried, to make sure that her opponent's angel is alright, and wasn't hurt too badly. | ||||||||||
